Landfill Communities Fund

 

Research & Development

 

Until 2005, the Objectives included one relating to sustainable waste management, recycling, and research and education relating to these subjects. Information on a number of projects supported by the Fund under this objective can be obtained from the following sites:

In brief, the objectives of the Landfill Communities Fund are:

 

 

a.

 

Reclamation of land

 

b.

 

De-pollution of land

 

d.

 

Provision or maintenance of public parks or amenities

 

da.

 

The conservation or enhancement of biological diversity through the provision, conservation, restoration or enhancement of a natural habitat, or the maintenance or recovery of a species in its natural habitat.

 

 

e.

 

Maintenance of certain buildings of historical architectural or religious significance.

The Fund operates in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Applications for grant aid must be fully detailed and documented before they can be appraised and project sites will always be visited by an appraiser.

There are no application or administration fees.

Grants can be for capital or some types of revenue expenditure and may be up to 100% of a project's costs though complementary funding is normally required and some commitment from project owners is expected.

The Board meets in March, June and September to consider grant applications which should be submitted at least eight weeks beforehand.

 

 

The following are types of project that are unlikely to be supported:

 

·

Site investigations

·

Feasibility studies

·

C.C.T.V.

·

Renewal or repair of church or school bells

·

Statues and monuments

·

Floodlighting

·

Substitution for normal public expenditure

·

Car parks

·

Church schemes not providing greater community use of premises but simply involving routine repair and maintenance

·

With churches only Section A Quinquennial repairs will be considered if projects are viable.

·

No grants will be made to projects already commenced

·

Grants will not be increased once an offer is made by the Fund.

Additional funding must be the subject of a new application.

·

Projects not sustainable beyond the support of the Fund

·

Normally, a single-object organisation may not seek further grant-aid within three years of the date of the previous grant-offer contract being signed.

·

Normally no award in any year will be greater than £30,000

·

Applicants are required to identify at least 25% of their project’s cash requirements from their own or other sources.Volunteers' efforts, skills or gifts-in-kind can be valued as contributions..

 

The Fund does not support projects submitted under Landfill Communities Fund’s Objectives a and b.
