Norton Canes Community Centre Nr Cannock

The Community Centre provides full recreational and community facilities for the local population and is widely used.SEF Grant: £125,000     Total Project Cost: £525,000

The Dudson Centre, Hanley, Stoke-On-Trent

Major regeneration work was carried out to the Dudson Centre which involved refurbishing and developing the former listed site of the courtyard of the Dudson pottery factory and bottle oven. The Centre provides 17 units for charities in North Staffordshire and also includes a café, training accommodation and the Dudson Pottery Museum. The Centre is an excellent example of collaboration between sections of the community working with joint funders to improve the urban environment and provide a useful and attractive amenity that has also preserved and created jobs.SEF Grant: £85,000     Total Project Cost: £2,502,000

Biddulph Grange Boathouse, Staffordshire Moorlands

The boathouse at Biddulph Grange which was built in 1900 was restored and with the help of the Fund's contribution it will be used as an attraction and history display area. The boathouse lies at one end of the lake known as the fish pond of Biddulph Grange, a Grade II Listed Building whose gardens have been recently taken over by the National Trust. The estate was created in 1840 by James and Maria Bateman, and developed by Robert Heath, a Stoke 'Ironmaster', who built the boathouse in 1900.SEF Grant: £7,000     Total Project Cost: £14,000

Burton Leander Rowing club, Burton-On-Trent

Burton Leander Rowing Club was established in 1848 and it's clubhouse being was in the early 1900s. The project improved the dilapidated exterior of the clubhouse by repairing the flat roof, replacement of the boathouse doors and windows. The Club's large membership clearly shows the popularity of rowing which the Club intends to encourage in younger generations.SEF Grant: £14,837     Total Project Cost: £22,887

Walk Mill Pool, Bishops Offley, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust

The project restored the Pool to it's former glory. Major work was required to remove the silt carried down from the River Sow, involving major excavation work. Without this work the Pool would dry up during summer months so causing a detrimental effect on the local wildlife. The project created a beautiful nature reserve which has had a beneficial impact on local wildlife and biodiversity.SEF Grant: £50,000     Total Project Cost: £221,000

The Reading Room Project, Penkridge, Staffordshire

The original building dates back to 1785 and was erected through the benevolence of the Hatherton family to be a place of education for local residents and particularly for women to be taught to read. The modernised building will be used by the whole community for a range of activities, particularly focusing on the young and also the elderly who find it difficult to travel to areas outside the village.SEF Grant: £30,000     Total Project Cost: £70,000

Alton Castle

Alton Castle is a Grade II Listed Building designed by A.W. Pugin. The project restored the chapel roof and windows, refurbished and developed the old gym to provide an activity centre and generally restored the castle, which is now used as an activity base for disadvantaged youngsters from the West Midlands.SEF Grant: £100,000     Total Project Cost: £930,053

Erasmus Darwin House, Lichfield

The newly installed audio visual and interactive displays provide clear and informative history on the life of Erasmus Darwin. The displays are user-friendly and accessible to all including those with disabilities. Erasmus Darwin House is a Grade I Listed Building.SEF Grant: £25,000     Total Project Cost: £66,999

The Bateman Centre, Knypersley

An impressive new church hall designed to blend in with the original church. The Centre has an entrance hall, toilets, a kitchen and two meeting rooms. It is used extensively by the church as well as many other local and neighbouring community groups and individuals.SEF Grant: £20,000     Total Project Cost: £387,000

Lea Hall Miners Welfare Centre, Rugeley

The Centre is a vital resource for the community of Rugeley which was once a mining town. The new suite provides IT education and training for all age gropus whilst the greatly improved reception area, newly installed lift and toilet facilities make access simple for those with disabilities and, in fact, for all users of the Centre.SEF Grant: £40,000     Total Project Cost: £256,353
